Overview: ABI Civil Contracting were engaged as the project lead civil subcontractor to undertake all civil aspects of the Macquarie Park BLD B – Data Centre. The civil works were inclusive of bulk earthworks, piled retaining walls, in-ground FRP, external services infrastructure, site retention, road and public domain works.
Scope:
Bulk earthworks and disposal of 80,000m3+ of spoil
Construction of 120l/m contiguous piled retaining wall and capping beam to facilitate 10m bulk cut
Shotcreting of retaining wall in stages during bulk excavation
Detail excavation of all inground footings and tanks, including line drilling and rock sawing 6m deep excavation
6,000m3+ of FRP for over 100 inground footings, including construction of a 5 chamber, 80m long and 5m deep fuel coffin tank
FRP of 4 x raft main building foundations, Including placing over 1,000m3 in a single pour on two separate foundations
Telecommunications pits and conduiting to fibre rooms and the perimeter ring road of data centre
CCTV and SL conduiting and pits sitewide
All site stormwater drainage
Flexible and rigid road pavements and public domain works
Core Outcomes:
Excavation and construction of 80m long, 5m deep coffin tank. Line drilling undertaken to reduce benching across the extent of the site footprint
Planning and executing minute by minute schedules for 2 x 1,000m3 concrete pours with the constraints of a small building site in Sydney
Construction of 2 x tower crane and 2 x boom pump foundations for site logistics
Site congestion and heavy daily co-ordination with multiple contractors
Working around and within new building and services infrastructure
Large number of underground services and undertaking BIM modelling and design co-ordination
