Overview:
ABI Civil Contracting were engaged by Consolidated Power Projects to construct all civil components of the BESS yard for Tesla and Substation for TransGrid on behalf of the end client and solar farm owner Edify Energy. ABI Civil Contracting were the lead civil subcontractors on both projects completing works inclusive of earthworks, piled foundation, in-ground FRP, services infrastructure, transformer bund and spill oil tank construction.
Scope:
  • Supply and install of all stormwater drainage inclusive of drainage pits, pipes, dish drain, headwalls and rip rap rock
  • Supply and install of all cable conduits from 32mm – 150mm diameter across the project inclusive of combined trenches containing up to 40 x conduits
  • Shotcreting of retaining wall in stages during bulk excavation
  • Detail excavation of all inground footings, transformers, spill oil tanks building slabs
  • Form, reo and pouring of over 140 x footings, including construction of a transformer bund slab, inground spill oil containment tank, building slabs and all electrical plant foundations
  • Excavation and backfill of earthgrid network and direct buried cables
  • Placement of final capping layer and switchyard finished surfacing
Core Outcomes:
  • Excavation and construction of in-ground spill oil containment tank connected by DICL pipes to transformer bund 
  • Planning and executing minute by minute schedules for daily concrete pour in excess of 30m3 
  • Identification and co-ordination of long lead time material procurement to regional Australia
  • Site congestion and heavy daily co-ordination with multiple contractors
  • Working around and between new foundations and services infrastructure
  • Successfully completing all scope in line with TransGrid specifications and safe methods of work procedures
