Overview:

ABI Civil Contracting were engaged to construct all civil aspects of the Tamworth 330kV Substation Upgrade which forms part of the TransGrid NSW state electrical distribution network. Works included bulk earthworks, installation of drainage, electrical conduits and construction of all concrete structures (FRP) within the existing and new substation switchyard.

Scope:
  • Earthworks, bulk excavation, fill and construct substation bench
  • Construct footings for HV equipment
  • Construct SVC building
  • Drainage including oil containment
  • Site survey
  • Construction of concrete structures including transformer bunds, capacitor banks, reactor bunds and oil spill tank
  • Topsoil re-spreading and seed at completion of the earthworks
Core Outcomes:
  • The project has expanded ABI Civil Contracting's capabilities and reputation as a combined earthworks, drainage, FRP and heavy civil infrastructure contractor
  • Program specific resourcing of direct labour, plant, and materials ensures the timely completion of project milestones
  • Clear project expectations of both ABI Civil Contracting and the client and continual milestone communication are paramount to the projects success
